About CEDAR RIDGE CONSTRUCTION

Since 1942, two generations of the Smith family have been renovating and building custom luxury homes in Indianapolis and Central Indiana. Cedar Ridge Construction's president Robert D. Smith started working with his father, the late Floyd Smith, on-site as a teenage apprentice. He's been on the job and studying ever since.

Building for the Future

With several years of industry experience under his belt, Robert became a self-employed contractor in 1974 and he formed the Cedar Ridge Construction Corporation (CRC) in 1979. CRC initially specialized in house framing and interior trim. As demand grew for top-quality craftsmanship, CRC expanded its focus to include remodeling and enhancements in 1985 and new home construction in 1986 through the establishment of the Homes by Cedar Ridge division.

Cedar Ridge Construction is a member of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), the Indiana Builders Association (IBA), the Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis (BAGI), and the Hancock County Builders Council. Robert Smith is currently studying to be a Certified Graduate Builder and a Certified Graduate Remodeler through the IBA's Graduate Builders Institute.

In his three decades in the home construction industry, Robert Smith has developed a reputation as one of the few independent local homebuilders that is willing to construct truly custom homes based on the needs and wishes of families rather than on the generic templates most builders prefer. As a born and bred Hoosier, Smith is most concerned with helping his community grow, not with corporate stockholder returns and not with making the Indiana landscape look like every place else.
